Congratulations to Joseph Gomez, DTM as Toastmasters International Region Advisor Marketing

It is with distinct pleasure to share with you the good news of our Immediate past District Governor Joseph Gomez, DTM as Toastmasters International Region Advisor Marketing ( RA Marketing) team for Region 14 for the 2010-2011 program year. RAs report to the International President through WHQ and serve a 16-month term, beginning March 15 and concluding June 30 of the following year.

Congratulations Joseph Gomez, DTM for adding another feather to your cap!

We are so proud of your continuous achievement and service to our district and members.

What is a region advisor marketing?

The region advisor marketing position is a valuable asset to the growth of Toastmasters International.

The volunteers who serve in these roles help district officers gain more clubs and more members by:

  • Providing ongoing marketing support and hands-on training;
  • Coaching district leaders and advising them on marketing issues and challenges;
  • Helping district teams develop and implement strategies to create new clubs and strengthen existing clubs.

The region advisors marketing is a vital link between districts, World Headquarters and the Board of Directors. They are people who have expert knowledge about marketing-related issues and trends within the regions they serve.

Purpose and Charge

What is the purpose of region advisor marketing?

The RA helps solve the pressing issues districts face and serves as a vital link among districts, Toastmasters International (TI) and the TI Board of Directors. RAs are volunteers who have expert knowledge about marketing-related issues and are aware of current trends within their regions. They also must be up to date and well-informed of organizational developments at Toastmasters International and the impact on the district. In a consultant capacity, RAs exist to help districts fulfill the district mission as measured by the critical success factors. Every region is assigned one RA.

This person directly supports districts and district leaders, (primarily the lt. governor marketing) in a number of important ways. He or she:

  1. Supports districts in areas related to district operations.
  2. Establishes ongoing mechanisms for communication with district leaders within their region.
  3. Works in partnership with district leaders to identify strengths and needs.
  4. Develops and mentors district leaders for future district leadership, RA or international volunteer roles.
  5. Delivers one or more sessions as part of the officer training programs held at the International Convention and mid-year training.

    Job Description

    What will the region advisor marketing be responsible for?

    The region advisor marketing (RA) supports district leaders and helps identify strategies that enable districts to extend the network of clubs and enhance club performance. The RA will accomplish this by:

    • Having a thorough understanding of marketing principles and concepts, including:
      • Strategies for building effective marketing teams
      • Processes for identifying prospective club markets
      • Strategies for building effective corporate relationships
      • Proven methods for club/member recruitment and retention
    • Assisting district leadership teams in the interpretation and planning of marketing-related goal achievements through the district performance reports and district success planning.
    • Assisting districts with club-building efforts, including training on how to conduct corporate visits.
    • Providing consulting support to districts on the creation of marketing-related training programs and efforts.
    • Having a thorough understanding of club coach, sponsor and mentor training materials in order to support the district in the development and training of effective club coaches, sponsors and mentors.
    • Conducting the district leadership training at the International Convention and mid-year training.
    • Helping districts support clubs in the completion of their chartering process including charter paperwork.

    These strategies are not inclusive and the support provided by the RA will vary from district to district based on the unique needs of each district.
